horizons unlimited

physical conditioning

In a perfect world we would now be undertaking many hours of rigorous physical conditioning in preparation for this ride; particularly given the aches and pains that plagued us for months after last year's alpine ride.

Unfortunately, the real world has intruded into our perfect world, and we increasingly aware that our physical conditioning has been woefully inadequate.

Gary has some natural advantages with a physically demanding job that keeps him fit through his work, but the rest of us are 'shiny bums' who get most of our exercise walking to and from the coffee machine.

A (semi)regular morning session at the gym combined with some swimming on the weekend is about all I will get before we set off for the south of France.  The first few days will be reasonably easy with a casual jaunt down the east coast of Spain, but I suspect that the real pain will start not too far out of Tangier, Morocco.

After a detailed medical evaluation, we have worked out that all of these bits hurt.
